Get involved
Students must be formally registered by their School's Head of Year who liaises with the SHINE at ASL liaison at their school.
Location
The American School in London, One Waverley Place, London, NW8 0NP
From St. John's Wood tube station on the Jubilee Line, cross Finchley Road. Continue west one block along Grove End Road to Waverley Place. Turn right; the entrance to the School is 35 meters ahead on the left.
Checking In
When you arrive on campus, check in with Security, who will direct you to the location for SHINE. Parents and family members are welcome to wait at the school entrance.
Timing
We ask that every participant arrive at 9:30 am for each session, and ensure that they are able to remain at SHINE until 12:30 pm. If you must arrive late or leave early one day, you must arrange this beforehand with Rita or Sandy.
Our Shine Coordinators
Rita Bediako
was born in Accra, Ghana and has lived in London for more than 30 years. Rita has worked at ASL for over 20 years and says "the SHINE program is the best part of the week. I love getting to know the ASL students and the student participants from other schools. I learn so much from each of them and enjoy their spirit of fun and learning."
Sandy Mateus
Was born in the United States, speaks Portuguese and has lived in London for over 10 years. "The opportunities the SHINE program provides to ASL students and mentors to engage with students from all over London is very special. I am always inspired by their curiosity and wonder, and how they aspire to make our global community a better place!"
