International Schools Educators Retreat

"Happy Teachers Change the World"

Join us from 24-30 June for an international schools educators retreat at the European Institute of Applied Buddhism (EIAB) in Waldbröl, Germany.

Last year, six ASL participants joined a group of international educators at the EIAB to deepen our meditation practice together and to work on mindfulness in the classroom and in schools. This year, we plan to go again.

Led by Miles Dunmore and Tineke Spruytenberg, and supported by monastic and lay practitioners, the retreat is solidly grounded in Thich Nhat Hanh’s Plum Village tradition. All teachers, administrators, and staff are welcome, including newcomers to mindfulness as well as experienced practitioners.

ASL employees can access their professional development funds to fund the cost of the retreat and travel to Germany.

What to expect:

  • Guided practice in sitting meditation, walking meditation, mindful eating, and deep relaxation, in order to develop and deepen our personal experience of mindfulness
  • Practice of mindfulness strategies to implement in school and classroom
  • Reflection on what it means to be a mindful educator in the daily interactions of school life

If you would like further information, please contact Miles or speak to one of last year’s participants: Ken Craig, Joe Harris, Patrick Marinucci, Dave Partridge, and Steve Reed.
