Lower School Library

The mission of the libraries at the American School in London is to ensure that our students, staff and community gain the knowledge and skills to be effective and conscientious users of ideas and information. We aim to foster a love of literature and learning, and to provide quality print and electronic resources that support the needs and interests of our students, staff and community.

About the Lower School Library

The Lower School Library is central to learning at ASL. We have an extensive collection of approximately 20,000 materials including books, magazines and eBooks. Our librarians are committed to finding the best titles in literature and nonfiction, and to keeping the collection current and relevant. We also have a variety of online databases and subscriptions available to students for use at school and at home.

Borrowing guidelines

Borrowing days: Students visit the library with their class twice every eight-day cycle. However, the library is open throughout the school day and students may visit as often as they wish. The door is always open!

Additional loans: Additional loans are easily supported for special projects. Please ask the library staff for assistance. Also, students and parents are encouraged to visit the library before each school holiday to stock up on extra books.

Parents in the library: Our parents use the library as an extension of their local library. Stop in to browse, choose books and read with your child. When we're not teaching, the librarians are happy to help you find just the right books for your child.
