Standardized testing requirement
All students applying to middle and high school (Grades 5-12) must submit the results of a recent standardized test as part of their application.
We recommend the ISEE online/at-home for most applicants because it is widely available and can be taken from home. Our step-by-step video explains how to register. Other approved tests are available at host schools and Prometric computer-based testing centers around the world. ASL also hosts in-person ISEE and SSAT testing on campus on three Saturdays, beginning in November.
Before registering for a new test, check whether your child has already taken an accepted test through their current school. Some applicants, for example, may already have recent MAP or ERB results that meet our requirement. You can find a full list of accepted tests and requirements below.
Please plan ahead for testing. Test dates can fill quickly, and registration deadlines are often three weeks before the test date. If your child requires testing accommodations, such as extra time, please allow at least six weeks for the testing provider to review and approve the request.
Please note: ISEE and SSAT scores must be sent directly to ASL by the testing organization.
