Fighting spirit: Spirit Week at ASL

Come on Eagles! It’s that time of year again, and Spirit Week at ASL concluded with Friday’s spirit assembly finale. Following their win last year, did the champion title remain in the hands of our Grade 12 students? Read on to learn more about the spirit events that have been shaking the School!

Spirit Week at ASL is an annual, week-long opportunity to have fun and celebrate the power of our community, while engaging in some healthy competition. The clue is in the name—let’s lift those spirits!

Spirit Week balances out what can be quite a stressful, work-heavy time of year. The week consists of suggested dress codes for each day: pajama day, sportswear day, anything-but-a-backpack day—the more creative the better. The week built up to the Friday assembly, packed full to the brim with energy.

Spirit Week is more than just a good time and a chance to let off some steam. Students come together to celebrate and embrace their ASL identity and pride that truly makes us unique. All employees are encouraged to join in on the dressing up, as well as to cheer on the students at the final assembly.

Fun fact: High School Director of Student Life James Perry let slip that his favorite Spirit Week activity is musical chairs—it sure gets intense.

Highlights from Friday's assembly included roars of cheers, expert flag-waving and terrifying dodgeball techniques, all culminating in yet another win for our seniors! See below for clips of the action.
