What’s your connection to ASL?

I work in the ASL transport office as the Assistant to the Transport Manager.

How do you reconnect with long-distance friends or family?

Last year, I joined a few Zoom groups such as Amateur Christian Prayer, British Sign Language study, Signs of God summer school and a book club with Kwame Alexander (ASL 2019-21), ASL’s former Innovator-in-Residence.

How do you stay connected to your...

Community? Either emailing, WhatsApp texting my friends or just meeting up face-to-face in the park for a picnic and a chat.

Colleagues? Some of the school bus drivers and I keep in touch by sending WhatsApp messages just to see how we are doing and to make sure all is well.

Joy? I love signing with people in the deaf community, and I have made some really good friends who I go out with on a regular basis, either to a restaurant or for a weekend away.

Well-being? I love listening to gospel, jazz and classical music, and I'm currently learning how to do Teeline Shorthand.
