How to apply
We welcome applications from students of all nationalities who are
able to meet the demands of an academically challenging American
curriculum. Students are selected to enter the School on the basis of
past school records, teacher recommendations, standardized testing
scores and applicant questionnaire. In making admissions decisions, we
offer places to those students whose experiences and records indicate
they will succeed in the School's academic programs. Some students may
be asked to come to ASL for an assessment. Admission of students with
learning difficulties is limited by the availability of services to
meet their educational needs.
Parents may submit the application for admission up to one year before entry (beginning 1 July). Applications must be completed by submitting the information outlines below by 1 February.
Completed applications are reviewed by the admissions committee and the
applicant's parents are notified of the decision beginning in February.
If places are not available, students may be
placed in the wait pool.
We continue to accept applications after 1 February. Applications submitted after 1 February
should be completed within three weeks.
Applications are only considered once all of the following information is received:
1. Application for Admission and fee
Submit as soon as possible after 1 July the year before entry. The application fee is £100. We will send an email to acknowledge receipt of your application.

4. Standardized testing
Grades 5-12: recent standardized test scores with national norms (including PSAT or SAT
scores for Grade 12 applicants). If students have not taken
standardized tests (ERB, Stanford, Iowa, etc.) in their current
schools, parents should arrange for them to take the Independent School
Entrance Exam (ISEE). Information about the ISEE and how to register
can be found at www.erbtest.org.
The ISEE Code for ASL is 724412. Please contact the admissions office
if you have any questions about whether the testing the applicant has
undertaken is sufficient. State proficiency tests are not generally acceptable unless they include national norms.
5. Applicant Questionnaire
The Applicant Questionnaire should be completed after November and received by 1 February.
