Arts & Athletics
Experiential learning
opportunities are a crucial component of ASL’s overall program. Through our
robust offerings in the arts and athletics, students engage in new ways of
learning about—teamwork and self-expression; commitment and discipline; skills and character development; and competition and
problem-solving.
In the arts, to learn by
experience allows students to study not just how to create art, but why.
Developing an artistic identity, to see oneself as an actor, a musician or a
sculptor, allows student-artists new ways to look at the world and at their experiences.
Similarly, a competitive
athletics program is essential to the physical, cognitive and social
development of ASL’s student-athletes. What
our students learn from their participation in competitive athletics provides
them with transferable skills for the classroom, athletics and life after ASL.
To create and
to play—both are essential ingredients of an ASL education.
