Student Support Services
At ASL, there are a variety of activities and programs designed to offer support to students both inside and outside of the classroom. Counselors, learning specialists and educational psychologists work with students of every age.
The Specific Learning Difficulties program provides support for students who have mild to moderate specific learning difficulties and/or specific academic needs, however, spaces are limited. Our goal is to help students reach their full potential while learning to work independently and cooperatively. Students best suited for admission to the School and its support services are highly motivated and are of at least high average intelligence. They should be able to work successfully within an extremely verbal and stimulating classroom environment, and to meet the demands of a challenging curriculum. Students who cope best are flexible and proactive participants in their own learning, and can persevere and adapt to the rigorous pace, schedule and high academic standards of ASL. The services provided within each division vary in style, delivery and availability. It is expected that parents will work closely with School personnel to implement recommendations and to provide additional interventions when necessary. For additional information on support services, contact the admissions office.
In accordance with the UK Department for Education and Skills 2003 regulations, the School has a written Safe School Policy. This document may be obtained, on request, from the Admissions Office, at (0)20 7449 1222.
